The fair lasted from May 6 to 7, between 11:00 to 21:00, at the Chianti Plaza, one of Taipei's busiest shopping areas in Hsinyi District.▲圖/翻攝自中國郵報The Fair was opened on May 6 with an exhilarating opening performance from 'PUNCH!', a Taiwanese percussion group. Deputy Foreign Minister Francois Wu was the first to give remarks for the opening ceremony. Deputy Minister Wu said, "When it comes to Europe, we often think of castles, cathedrals, museums, and fashion, but Europe is far more than that. When the people of Taiwan get to know Europe better, they will be amazed by its creativity and diversity. The fair will give people the opportunity to taste new foods and beverages, and watch both traditional and contemporary cultural performances."Taipei Deputy Mayor Charles Lin mentioned in his remarks, "the Europe Fair is a good opportunity for Taiwanese people to get a taste of European cultures and ways of life and also to experience the unique romantic atmosphere of Europe." Deputy Mayor Lin went on to say, "Before enjoying these wonderful exhibitions, music and delicious cuisine, I would like to take this opportunity to invite all of you to come to 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade—the most important event in Taiwan this year, with athletes from all over the world competing. I guarantee it will be quite spectacular and not to be missed."Madeleine Majorenko, the Head of the European Economic and Trade Office, welcomed all the participants to the Fair as host, and was excited in announcing "this year, the fair is bigger, we have more content, and more member states are participating!" Majorenko went on to explain why it was so important to organize the Fair, "The motto of the European Union is 'United in Diversity.' There are 28 member states in the EU, 507 million citizens, and we have 24 official languages. We cherish this diversity, because this diversity enriches us and allows us to progress together. This is what Europe is all about."At the end of her remarks, Majorenko invited everyone to attend the Fair because the EETO has once again "brought Europe to Taipei", and it was up to everyone to explore as much as possible during the two days. 上一頁 下一頁
